YoungstaCPT Celebrates 10 Years Of “Wes-Kaap” With Special Two-City Anniversary Shows

YoungstaCPT Celebrates 10 Years Of “Wes-Kaap” With Special Two-City Anniversary Shows. South African hip-hop star YoungstaCPT is celebrating a decade of his iconic anthem “Wes-Kaap,” a song that has become a defining soundtrack for Cape Town and a symbol of Western Cape pride.

YoungstaCPT Celebrates 10 Years Of “Wes-Kaap” With Special Two-City Anniversary Shows

Originally released in 2016 on the mixtape The Cape and Good Dope alongside producer Ganja Beatz, “Wes-Kaap” quickly established itself as more than just a hip-hop record. Built around a familiar sample from Dr. Dre’s classic “The Next Episode,” the track transformed into a bold celebration of Cape Town’s culture, identity, and unique slang.

With lyrics proudly representing the city, “Wes-Kaap” became a staple across the province, blasting from taxis, parties, braais, and clubs while cementing YoungstaCPT’s reputation as one of the country’s strongest regional voices.

To mark the song’s 10-year milestone, YoungstaCPT and Y?GEN Entertainment have announced a special anniversary celebration featuring two exclusive performances across one weekend.

The first show will take place on Friday, 10 July 2026, at COCO in Johannesburg, followed by a second performance on Saturday, 11 July 2026, at CABO in Cape Town.

Rather than embarking on a full tour, the events are designed as a focused tribute to the single that helped shape a generation of South African hip-hop fans. Organisers describe “Wes-Kaap” as more than a song, calling it a cultural timestamp that has represented the spirit of the Mother City for the past decade.

Fans can expect an energetic live performance packed with crowd sing-alongs and the unmistakable atmosphere that has made YoungstaCPT one of Cape Town’s most celebrated artists.

The anniversary shows aim to unite supporters from both Johannesburg and Cape Town in celebrating a record that continues to resonate ten years after its release.

Tickets for both events are available through Webtickets, allowing fans to be part of a weekend dedicated to one of South African hip-hop’s most enduring anthems.

For many listeners, the message remains unchanged: “Wes-Kaap tot laat,” a fitting tribute to a song that continues to carry the sound and pride of the Mother City.
