5x Grammy nominated leading Afrobeats voice Davido releases his sixth studio album ORIADÉ via Sony Music UK/RCA Records. The expansive body of work arrives during a landmark year for the global star, who is celebrating 15 years in music while entering a new chapter honoring his journey. Features include Leon Thomas, Black Sherif, Aya Nakumara, Mayorkun, Fola, Llona, NO11, JAZZWRLD, and GL_Ceejay.
Derived from the Yoruba words Ori (head, destiny) and Adé (crown), ORIADÉ speaks to the journey of becoming. Across 13 tracks, Davido reflects on the experiences that shaped him, the people who joined his journey, and the path that ultimately led him to his purpose. The result is a globally-resonant body of work that explores family, brotherhood, gratitude, and the enduring spirit of Nigerian excellence.
Davido first introduced the world of ORIADÉ with the project’s first single, I Know Who I Be with JAZZWRLD and GL_Ceejay, reflecting on the journey that carried him to his destiny as the “King of Afrobeats.” The accompanying music video brings that story full circle, returning to the childhood home where his journey first began and featuring cameos from longtime collaborators and members of the team. Davido’s second single, Gimme Dat Ting with NO11, fuses Afrobeats and Amapiano as Davido leans into the confidence that has long defined his catalog, celebrating ambition, success, and the rewards that come with them.
Across ORIADÉ, Davido continues to balance the familiar with the unexpected. Amazing Grace with Black Sherif samples the Backstreet Boys’ iconic I Want It That Way into a soulful love song carried by Davido’s unmistakable raspy vocals, while Already Falling puts an Afrobeats spin on Elvis Presley’s timeless Can’t Help Falling in Love. On Tell Everybody, with Leon Thomas, Davido pairs the warmth of R&B with the energetic pulse of Afrobeats. The record is a declaration of love, with Davido singing “tell everybody you’re all that matters to me,” alongside Leon Thomas’ soulful admission, “I’m usually private, but I can’t love you in silence.” The album captures Davido moving fluidly across sounds, influences, and emotions, crafting a body of work that remains deeply rooted in the musical language of Afrobeats while continuing to expand its possibilities.
