Our generous sponsor Art_DogCT is back! You may recall he launched our first 2026 “Double Your Donation” challenge from an unexpected inheritance. He said he would give most of it away and Naked Capitalism was his top priority.
Art_DogCT has returned, and while we are deeply indebted to his continuing generosity, the reasons are not entirely happy. Donations have stalled out when we are short of our targets.
Art_DogCT noticed our progress was flagging. He decided to help make sure that we went into 2027 well fortified so we could do an even better job of giving you globe-ranging deep dives and hot takes, first-class comments wrangling, pithy phrasemaking, and cheery critter pix. So he will double all donations, up to his challenge total of $5,000.
Make this superb offer a stellar success by going straight to the Tip Jar!
Join us in thanking Art_DogCT for his attentiveness and support. We are still behind in meeting all our fundraiser goals./strong> In 2027, we want to work even more effectively with the members of our esteemed commentariat to develop the best understanding possible of this tumultuous world, and offer each other support, advice, and occasional tips, from books to gardening and even recipes .
We do have a solid level of new donors, and our average donation is higher than last year’s. But our number of donations is lagging. So if you haven’t yet had the time to give, please take a break from your day to do so now. The Tip Jar is calling your name.
We can say unpopular but important things early due to your faithful backing. We and our other writers really are, as Matt Stoller once said, unbought and unbossed. We don’t have to stoop to candy-coat what we see, or worse, whitewash elite and national crimes, such as waiting to call the genocide in Gaza by its proper name until the horrors were undeniable. We don’t have to pander to important advertisers or big donors or foundations.
So your funding really is essential not just to keeping and extending our range and depth of coverage, but also to being able to be as candid and accurate as possible.
Please act to support this independent voice, and the commentariat, and sweet animal pix, and all the things you enjoy here, by visiting the Tip Jar and chipping in.
Readers continue to tell us how important Naked Capitalism is to them. From Doug K:
Naked Capitalism is always the first website I open every morning. I’m constantly amazed at the breadth and depth of your coverage. What I admire most is that underlying the rigorous analysis and intellectual honesty that you and your contributors bring to the discourse day after day is a message that it doesn’t have to be this way, that a better world is possible. Undaunted by the enshittification of everything around us you continue to fight the good fight against the warmongers and the plutocrats, and for that I’m extremely thankful. So keep up the great work! I hope the fundraiser is a rousing success!
From JLE:
N.C. is the website I spend the most time on, and read daily. Aside from your longtime strengths, this year your Iran War coverage has been invaluable, and I’ve particularly enjoyed the new Sunday Morning Movie — or at least its short subjects, many of which are new to me, e.g., Angine de Poutrine, or the Leger/Murphy film Ballet Mecanique.
Thank you again.
And from ehak:
Dear Yves
$50 check is on the way . I wish it could be more.
When I venture out up the hill I carry bear deterrent spray. When I venture on-line for news I dose up on NC anti-gaslighting deterrent.
Thank you for all your hard work
And from Patricia V:
