Boksoon Kwon, who was living with her son and learning new skills at TAFE, is being remembered as warm and wise.
She attended English and arts classes at Cairns TAFE and made a friend in Jiraporn Janluang.
“She was a very wise woman, she’s clever,” Janluang said.
“She never say about anybody bad, never ever see her face grumpy, she always very warm. That’s what I can tell, she’s a loveable person.”
The 71-year-old was hit and killed by a police Landcruiser in Cairns North yesterday morning.
She was crossing the road on a green signal. At the same time officers drove through an intersection to arrest a wanted person.
“I text her phone number and said I heard some news and an accident and someone named Boksoon, then her son replied and said it was her,” Janluang said.
“And I felt like, ‘oh God, this, this … it can’t be’.
“She shouldn’t end up like this.”
Kwon’s son was too distressed to speak on camera today as the police investigation into the officers’ actions continues.
