Xabi Alonso reveals if Alejandro Garnacho is leaving Chelsea this Summer

Xabi Alonso in his latest pre-season press conference has confirmed if Alejandro Garnacho will either leave or remain at Chelsea this season.

Chelsea manager Xabi Alonso has confirmed that Alejandro Garnacho will leave Stamford Bridge during the summer transfer window, bringing an end to the Argentine winger’s short spell at the club.

The 22-year-old was noticeably absent when Chelsea’s players reported for the first phase of pre-season training at Cobham, with the club already working alongside his representatives to complete a permanent transfer.

Garnacho joined Chelsea from Manchester United just a year ago in a deal worth €46.2 million, but the move has failed to deliver the impact both the player and the club had hoped for. Alonso has now made it clear that the winger is not part of his plans for the 2026/27 campaign.

Xabi Alonso Confirms Garnacho Exit

Speaking ahead of Chelsea’s pre-season preparations, Alonso confirmed that Garnacho is expected to leave the club this summer.

The Chelsea boss revealed that the player is currently working on securing a move away from Stamford Bridge, with discussions ongoing between the club and interested teams.

Why Is Alejandro Garnacho Leaving Chelsea?

Garnacho arrived at Chelsea with high expectations after establishing himself as one of Manchester United’s brightest young talents.

However, he struggled to consistently secure a starting place and was unable to produce the performances expected following his big-money move.

Chelsea and the player have now mutually agreed that the transfer has not worked out as planned, making a summer departure the preferred solution for all parties.

How Much Are Chelsea Asking for Alejandro Garnacho?

Chelsea have reportedly placed a price tag of around €50 million (£42 million) on Garnacho for clubs outside England.

Premier League clubs are expected to pay closer to £45 million if they want to sign the Argentine international.

The Blues are determined to complete a permanent transfer rather than sanction another loan move, allowing them to recover their investment and generate a profit on the €46.2 million they paid Manchester United last summer.

Which Clubs Want to Sign Alejandro Garnacho?

Italian side AS Roma are among the clubs showing serious interest in signing Garnacho.

Negotiations, however, have proved difficult because Chelsea are insisting on a permanent deal instead of a loan with an option to buy.

In addition to Roma, several unnamed Premier League clubs are monitoring the winger’s situation, while teams from the Saudi Pro League have also registered interest ahead of the new season.

With the transfer window still open, Garnacho is expected to attract further offers in the coming weeks.
