70′ More changes for Scotland

Right after the drinks break Dykes and McLean are on.

Christie and Adams go off.

Dykes is a big centre forward.

Will Scotland start to go long?

63′ Scotland miss tough chance

Best chance of the game for Scotland.

It was a tough one though.

Ryan Christie gets a shot away but it blazes over the bar.

59′ Change for Scotland

Right on cue.

Ben Gannon-Doak comes on.

Kieran Tierney is off. Looks like he picked up an injury.

58′ Scotland not creating

Scotland still haven’t created a chance.

Time for a change?

Sat 20 Jun 2026 at 9:14am

49′ Morocco hit the bar

Lucky escape for Scotland.

A great block from Jack Hendry saves Scotland.

A cut back finds Ismael Saibari, only for Hendry to deflect the shot up on to the junction of crossbar and post.

48′ Penalty claim for Scotland

Scotland want a penalty!

John McGinn goes down in the box.

The Moroccan didn’t get the ball but I think McGinn went down a little easy.

No penalty.

HT: Morocco lead Scotland after early goal

Since opening the scoring after 70 seconds, Morocco have dominated this game.

Scotland have looked a little leggy, struggling to create any chances.

Morocco comfortable.

45′ Five minutes of stoppage time

Morocco on top this half.

Sat 20 Jun 2026 at 8:38am

36′ What a chance for Morocco!

Should do better.

Just as I was praising Saibari.

He is free in the box but balloons the ball over.

Had to take it first time but should score.

McTominay kept quiet

Morocco have managed to keep Scotland’s main man Scott McTominay out of the game.

The Scots are struggling to get anywhere near the Moroccan goal.

Wouldn’t be surprised to see some changes at half time.

World Cup’s fastest goal

I thought an own goal at 11 minutes was hard to swallow but a goal in 70 seconds! What is the fastest goal in a world cup match? This one has to be close to a record.

– Rachel

Hi Rachel, good question!

The fastest World Cup goal was 11 seconds by Hakan Şükür for Türkiye in 2002.

Full disclosure, I had to look that up.

Interestingly, Morocco’s goal isn’t even in the top 10 quickest.

Saibari impressing at World Cup

That’s two goals in two games for Ismael Saibari.

Looks a real danger.

He’ll join Bayern Munich after the World Cup apparently.

Morocco star facing rape trial

– AP

A French appeals court has confirmed that Morocco star player Achraf Hakimi will stand trial in a rape case.

The PSG defender had appealed a February decision by an investigative judge. That ruling followed recommendations from public prosecutors that Hakimi should face trial.

The decision was released just hours before Morocco’s clash with Scotland.

Hakimi, one of the best right backs in the world, denies any wrongdoing. He faced preliminary charges of rape in March 2023 after a 24-year-old woman said she was raped by Hakimi at his home in a Paris suburb.

10′ Tough start for Scotland

That early goal has shocked Scotland.

They’re struggling to get on the ball with Morocco having most of it.

Still a long way to go in this game.

Morocco are a top side though. They reached the semis in the last World Cup and won the Africa Cup of Nations this year.

Sat 20 Jun 2026 at 8:02am

2′ What a start! Morocco scores

The fastest goal of the World Cup so far.

Just 70 seconds on the clock.

Ismael Saibari gets the ball, charges into the box before blasting a shot into the roof of the net.

The Scots are stunned.

That was a fantastic finish by the Moroccan striker.
