The Green EP: Discovery Community unveils the vol. 2

The African creative economy is witnessing a pivotal shift where sustainability meets sonic innovation. Discovery Community, the renowned artist incubation platform, has officially released the Discovery Community Volume 2 – The Green EP. It is a manifesto for the future of independent music, recorded entirely within a Net Zero carbon emission studio. By trading traditional generators for solar power, the project proves that high-fidelity art can exist in harmony with environmental consciousness.

Recorded over a high-intensity three-day sprint in Zaria, the Green EP serves as a blueprint for cost-efficient production. By leveraging solar energy, the platform achieved a remarkable 30% reduction in production costs compared to legacy studio models. This technical milestone addresses one of the biggest hurdles for independent artists in Nigeria: the soaring overhead of power and infrastructure. In Zaria, the sun didn’t just light the room; it fueled the rhythm, providing a consistent, eco-friendly heartbeat for the entire project.

The EP serves as a vibrant canvas for a new vanguard of talent, featuring ReaMI, MeazyBerry, Slimzzy, Khonect, Sirmkhid, and Phizzy. This cohort navigates the intersections of Afrobeats, Alté, and Contemporary African sounds with a precision that belies their emerging status. Because the project was recorded in a structured, collaborative environment, the music feels cohesive yet diverse, a sonic reflection of a community that values collective growth over individual isolation.

Beyond the vocal booths, Discovery Community is re-engineering the DNA of music ownership. Through a blockchain-powered royalty model, the platform ensures that the “path to profitability” mentioned by founder Oluwaseyi Ladele is transparent and automated. As artist MeazyBerry noted, the experience is an MBA in creative entrepreneurship, teaching artists to view their masters as assets and their craft as a sustainable business. By merging green energy with Web3 infrastructure, Discovery Community is ensuring that the next generation of African stars owns both their sound and their future.
