Manchester City have moved to shut down speculation surrounding the future of Erling Haaland after claims emerged in Spain that the striker had already agreed to join Real Madrid.
In an official response, City described the reports as “false” and stressed that Haaland remains under contract until 2034. The club also denied suggestions that there is a release clause that would allow him to leave and reportedly warned that it is considering legal action over the unauthorized use of the player’s image during the controversy.
The club statement read,
“The stories which have emerged from Spain regarding the future of Erling Haaland are false. There is NO chance of this happening and there is no contractual clause to enable it. We are considering legal action.”
The rumours originated from Real Madrid presidential candidate Enrique Riquelme, who claimed he would bring Haaland to the Santiago Bernabéu if elected. Both Manchester City and Haaland’s representative, Rafaela Pimenta, rejected the claims, insisting that no agreement exists.
City’s position is clear that Haaland is not for sale, remains committed to the club, and is a central figure in their long-term plans after signing a landmark contract extension that runs until 2034.
