Police believe that a body found in a park in Melbourne’s west is connected to an alleged kidnapping that happened hours before the discovery.
At about 3am, multiple male offenders arrived at a home on Darius Terrace in South Morang in a dark-coloured vehicle.
Police say they then forced entry into the home, armed with machetes, before assaulting a 30-year-old man who was asleep at the time, dragging him out of the house and into a vehicle before fleeing.
Another man and two children were inside the home at the time but were uninjured in the alleged incident.
Shortly after, emergency crews were called to a parkland near Bruni Drive in Tarneit at 4.30am after it was reported that a man was found dead.
He is yet to be identified, however, police believe he is the man involved in the South Morang incident.
A postmortem is set to be conducted to determine the cause of death.
Police are yet to make any arrests, and investigations are ongoing.
