Our next target, as we explain more fully below, is continuing our expanded daily Links. We have responded to the Trump turbocharging imperial breakdown by going from 45 to 55 daily links to 60ish in the runup to the 2024 election to regularly over 70 now.
Relentlessly intense news flow demands more information heavy lifting to give all of you something approximating a good overview. Many of you tell Links are how you start the day. Even for those outside Americas time zones, are often a major and in many cases a main new source. So help us keep this vital asset up to your high standards! Please proceed to the Tip Jar! Give generously to support this essential window into a chaotic world.
Keep in mind that this extra news scouting and screening means each Links takes markedly more time to prepare than in the not-that-distant past. That means each writer doing Links must spend more time on them. That means they have less time to spend on original posts or finding material we can cross post. So the result is and increased manpower demand.
We’ve at 619 donations, and so moving towards fundraiser target of 1100 donors. We are also receiving many enthusiastic notes, as well as a healthy number of first-time donors. Both are encouraging signs for the long-term health of this community.
Offsetting that is that the total number of donations at this time is a bit behind the level of some past years. We know that quite a few our our loyal readers and sponsors have yet to chip in. So please, when you have a few free minutes, visit the Tip Jar and help keep this community in fighting form.

Even more important, we proceeded nicely through our first three goals. The first was $27,000 to provide for more technology investments to cope with a more hostile external environment. Second was $30,000 for supporting the comments section. Your speedy donations showed how much you value the community and recognize the essential role katiebird and semper loquitur play in keeping temperatures below a boil. And you’ve just met the third target, of $36,000 for the new Coffee Break and Sunday Movie features! Well done!

Back to the current target: of 11 AM EDT, we are already $1115 towards that target.
As we explained in our kickoff post, we expanded our Links section from the pre-Covid maximum of 45 links to 65 to 70. This represents a day-in, day-out commitment of additional staffing, which means more budget needs. In fact, everyone is working harder since we have not increased compensation levels anywhere near in line with this load (admittedly Conor is insanely efficient, much faster at assembling good links than I am).
On top of that, particularly due Conor’s interest in finding non-MSM sources, we have more diversity of content and perspectives (particularly from abroad) than before.
So those of you who have contributed already, thanks again for your generous support. We look forward to those Naked Capitalism fans who have been too time pressed to donate yet .
