About Butterscotch Milkshake
Butterscotch Milkshake is a simple milkshake made using milk, butterscotch ice cream and butterscotch sauce. The main taste comes from butterscotch sauce and ice cream which gives that signature caramel taste and flavour. Ice cream is optional but it makes the shake more rich and creamy just like in shops.
The texture is smooth and frothy when blended perfectly. Ice cream helps in making the drink chilled and gives it a creamy and rich taste. When you drizzle sauce inside the glass before pouring, it looks more attractive and little fancy.
This butterscotch ice cream is creamy, rich and irresistibly delicious. Made with butterscotch ice cream this tastes just like the ones served in cafe. It is a perfect combination of creaminess, sweetness and caramel crunch in every sip. I used butterscotch ice cream which had butterscotch chips inside.
I usually make it during weekends when kids are at home so that I can serve them instantly. It’s jst quick to make and no cooking needed for this recipe. Both mittu and gugu are fond of butterscotch flavour and they absolutely love this milkshake.

Expert Tips
- Chilled milk – I usually keep milk in fridge for some time before making the milkshake.
- Blending – I blend until it is smooth, creamy and frothy. Immediately pour and serve.
- Drizzle sauce – You can even slide the glass and add butterscotch sauce along the sides of glass before pouring the milkshake. It makes it look more attractive and kids like that.
- Check sweetness – Some ice creams are already very sweet. Taste once and then decide if extra sauce is needed or not.
- Serving – I serve fresh and cold for best. If kept for long time, ice cream may melt and make the milkshake runny.
Serving and Storage
Serve Butterscotch Milkshake immediately in tall glasses with little extra sauce drizzle on top if you like. This goes well as evening treat or simple dessert after lunch. It is best consumed fresh and not stored for long hours. If you refrigerate also, texture may change little and froth will reduce.
