Singing in the Gabba rain
I was at the Gabba for the wet Geelong match 2 yrs ago when the Lions only scored 4 goals! Hoping it won’t be anywhere near that bad in the rain tonight.

Fortunately the weather isn’t nearly as bad tonight as it was on that particular evening. No flippers and snorkels necessary, just an awareness it might be a little slippery.

Final teams: Big late out for the Lions

Dayne Zorko is out tonight. Official word is he is being “managed”. James Tunstill comes in to replace him.
That makes three changes all up for the Lions, who also lost Lincoln McCarthy and Darragh Joyce and brought in Sam Marshall and Darcy Gardiner.
Four changes for the Cats for this one. The outs are Jake Kolodjashnij, Rhys Stanley, James Worpel and Jack Bowes. Replacing them are Jack Henry, Mark Blicavs, Mitch Edwards and Gryan Miers.

Welcome to Thursday night footy
Good evening, and welcome back to ABC Sport’s live blog coverage of the 2026 AFL season. Tonight we’ve got a real treat, a reunion of the grand final teams of last season within the cauldron of the Gabba.
Brisbane and Geelong played half a memorable grand final in 2025 last year. The other half was a Lions procession. As a result, the Cats are out for some sort of revenge and redemption tonight against a Brisbane team that seems capable of reserving its best for the biggest.
All the ingredients are there for a ripper tonight. Let’s see what we get.
