Siya Metane Speaks On Artist Empowerment After Blxckie’s Gold Plaque Presentation. Blxckie has added another milestone to his growing list of achievements after receiving a Gold certification plaque for his acclaimed 4Luv2 EP, presented by digital music distribution platform SOLDistro.
The special moment was shared by SOLDistro founder Siya Metane, who celebrated not only Blxckie’s success but also the broader mission of helping artists understand their value and receive the recognition and royalties they deserve.
In a heartfelt social media post, Metane described the plaque presentation as a reminder that the work extends far beyond music. “I’m simply grateful that God has created the space to work through us to honour his success and the success of so many of our artists,” he wrote.
Metane also reflected on words shared by Mmakgomo Popela before the presentation, recalling a paraphrased passage from Luke 4:18 that speaks about proclaiming freedom for prisoners, restoring sight to the blind, setting the oppressed free and proclaiming the Lord’s favour.
The scripture prompted him to think about the realities many musicians continue to face within the music industry.
According to Slikour, countless artists have never received the royalties owed to them, remain unaware of their true worth, or have become trapped in restrictive contracts they did not fully understand. He suggested that, for many creatives, contractual obligations have often overshadowed the favour and opportunities they deserve.
His comments highlight an ongoing conversation within South Africa’s music industry about transparency, artist ownership and financial empowerment. As independent distribution services continue to grow, more musicians are seeking greater control over their careers and earnings.
For Metane, SOLDistro’s role goes beyond delivering music to streaming platforms. He described the company’s purpose as one of service, helping artists build sustainable careers while restoring confidence in an industry that has historically left many creatives disadvantaged.
“We’re doing far more than music. We’re called to serve,” he said.
Metane concluded his message with a prayer for continued grace, patience, wisdom, humility and obedience as SOLDistro expands its mission, while asking for God’s provision to sustain the vision.
