Damaging surf conditions, creating potential for coastal erosion, are forecast for parts of the Sunshine Coast down to Coolangatta and into NSW’s north today.
At the same time, a hazardous surf warning extends from the Sunshine Coast down to NSW’s south, and people are being advised to stay out of the water.
In NSW, Tweed Heads, Byron Bay, Yamba, Evans Head, Ballina and Mullumbimby are all being warned too.
The dangerous conditions follow a wet week across Australia’s east and are expected to ease later into the weekend.
Despite rough conditions easing, damp conditions are expected to resume next week, particularly across the south-east.
Conditions in Queensland are expected to clear up over the weekend, with rain becoming a possibility later next week.
