Benjamin Netanyahu spoke at the UN, bragging about the ease of his decision to attack Iran, denying accusations of genocide in Gaza, and waving his trademark terrorist beeper to a nearly empty General Assembly Hall. The White House claimed 22 million barrels got through the Straits of Hormuz yesterday and Iran’s Foreign Minister met with Britain’s.

Meanwhile things got very kino in Saudi Arabia as Ansar Allah’s missiles and drones hit pipelines, air fields, and concentrations of troops across the country. Oh yea, and Emmanuel Macron promised the Saudis that French forces will come to Muhammad bin Salman’s rescue.

Oh boy, what a day, let’s get to it.

Bibi Behaving Badly on the World Stage

Not trying to ruin anyone’s breakfast, but, well it is what it is. Full text is at JNS, some lowlights:

Ladies and gentlemen,

Fourteen years ago, I stood on this podium, and I drew a red line.

I vowed to prevent Iran’s murderous dictatorship from developing atomic bombs, nuclear weapons aimed at destroying Israel, nuclear weapons that could threaten the entire world.

That’s exactly what we did.

Now let me say something that might surprise you.

Devastating Iran’s nuclear facilities was hard. It was very hard to do. But for me, it was one of the easiest decisions I’ve ever had to make as prime minister. Because if we hadn’t done it, we’d all be dead.

Now, you want to hear the ultimate irony?

In defending itself, Israel is also defending many of the countries whose delegates just left this hall!

In fact, I want you to know that many of their leaders even thank us privately for taking out Iran’s nukes.

For the past three years, our heroic soldiers have fought day in and day out in a seven-front war!

Do you know any other country the size of New Jersey capable of fighting a seven-front war? And for three years?

Seven fronts: Hamas, Hezbollah, the Houthis, Iran, militias in Iraq, militias in Syria, Palestinian terrorists in Judea Samaria. They all ganged up on us to wipe us off the face of the Earth.

They failed.

Because instead of collapsing, we delivered crippling blows to all of them.

With our great American friends, we crushed Iran’s army, navy, air force and nuclear facilities.

Israel hammered Hamas. We pummeled Hezbollah.

Remember the beepers? Well, I can tell you this: Hezbollah certainly remembers them.

Guess what happened to the bulk of Hezbollah’s vast arsenal of 150,000 ballistic missiles and rockets, all aimed at our civilians?

They’re gone.

Hezbollah’s leaders—dead. Their spirit—broken.

The arch-terrorists, the worst mass murderers on Earth, not only killing Israelis, killing Americans, killing Brits, killing citizens of dozens of countries—Khamenei, Dief, Sinwar, Haniyeh and Nasrallah—and thousands of other terrorists who sought to destroy us—they’re all gone too.

The remaining terrorists desperately try to regroup. Every day they try to murder our people.

So Israel and America acted together not only to protect ourselves, but to save civilization.

Brave American pilots alongside brave Israeli pilots flew joint missions over the skies of Iran.

America and Israel also worked together to bring back our remaining hostages.

We brought back every last one of them.

You ask, why are we winning?

Yoni said it simply. We have no other choice.

Throughout this long war, our goal never wavered: To win!

To win with unwavering resolve. To win with unrelenting courage. Because this is Israel.

One nation fighting for one future.

For three years, they have been valiantly fighting a seven-front war.

But there is an eighth front to this war. It’s the war for truth.

It is waged in the world’s media, and most perniciously, in social media.

Several foreign countries have spent untold billions to spread lies about my country.

The first to do so was Qatar.

Decades ago, it started massively funding American universities and toxic media outlets like Al Jazeera. They did the same in Europe, by the way.

Their goal was clear. Brainwash young minds to hate Israel, hate America and hate the West.

This is the same Qatar that hosts the Hamas butchers of Oct. 7.

The latest country to become a super-spreader of antisemitic lies is Turkey. (Recep Tayyip) Erdoğan is a tyrant who also hosts the Hamas terror chiefs.

He has murdered thousands of Kurdish civilians. He denies the Armenian genocide. He jails journalists and opposition leaders. In fact, I think he holds the world record on this, and that’s a tough call. But I think he’s number one.

He illegally occupies Northern Cyprus, an EU member, and he regularly transgresses against Greece, a NATO member.

Now he wants to take over Syria.

That’s not surprising, because he calls for Israel’s destruction almost every single day. He says he’s going to be the ruler of Jerusalem.

No, Sir. You won’t. This is our country, our city, our eternal capital.

Tyrants the world over seek to threaten us; they seek to undermine our resolve with their campaign of lies.

But ultimately, as on the military battlefield, the Jewish People will prevail.

And that’s enough of that. I’ll let you parse the lies for yourself. It’s enough for me to cut and paste this crap.

I do want to remind everyone that Israeli war crimes continue in Lebanon:

While we’re on a roll repeating (possibly) specious claims, CNN quoted an unnamed White House official claiming in response to Iranian conditions for talks to reopen the Straits that, ““The United States is in a very strong position with control of the Strait of Hormuz, so we are not in a rush. Nearly 22 million barrels of oil left the strait last night.”

Once again, rumors of peace were enough to spook oil bulls and bring prices down a tad from session highs.

Oh yea, about those talks or conditions for same.

Iran’s Demands, Conditions, Threats, Mockeries

Mohsen Rezaee, Secretary of Iran’s Supreme National Security Council, spoke to Iran’s rolling-news channel, Shabakeh Khabar (IRINN) (apologies for not including his remarks in yesterday’s Iran War update) and the headline takeaway was “If the US does not comply with Iran’s seven conditions, the Strait of Hormuz will not open, nor will we negotiate.”

Other quotes:

“If America does not fulfill the conditions, we will neither open the Strait of Hormuz nor is there any negotiation on the table.”

Rezaei says the conditions must be implemented “completely and all at once,” and says the US has been given only “four or five days” to do so. After that, he says, Iran will determine its “next step,” without specifying what that would entail.

Most revealingly, he explicitly describes Iran’s leverage over Hormuz as the guarantee behind this new diplomacy.

“In Islamabad, they had imposed a naval blockade; we had not closed the Strait of Hormuz in this manner at the start of the negotiations. But now, in the new diplomacy, we have a leverage called the Strait of Hormuz. This is the guarantee of the negotiations itself.”

“The Strait of Hormuz is our dignity. The Strait of Hormuz is our authority. The Strait of Hormuz is the tool to reclaim the rights of the Iranian nation.”

He also issued a warning to neighboring states against joining US efforts to restrict Iranian aviation: if they cooperate in preventing Iranian flights, “their airports won’t be able to have flights either.”

As of yesterday, those neighboring states include (per The New Arab): The United Arab Emirates, Azerbaijan, Georgia, Oman, Iraq (flights to Baghdad only), and Turkey (“although the measure reported so far is narrower. Iranian carrier Mahan Air said it had suspended its flights to Turkey at Ankara’s request. Iran’s Civil Aviation Organisation said on Wednesday that other international services, including flights to Istanbul, were continuing according to schedule, suggesting the Turkish restrictions do not currently amount to a blanket ban on all Iranian carriers).

The seven conditions offered to the US remain mysterious, but have been passed along to Qatar and Pakistan and include:

1. An end to the war on all fronts
2. Release of frozen funds
3. An end to the naval blockade

Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi has also been reported to have passed on the big seven to the US.

With Trump tied up with China’s Xi, other American officials had to step up to meet our churlish quota.

Bessant, Kennedy Talk Mad Trash

US Treasury Secretary Scott Bessant spoke to Fox News and said, “External flights from Iran, probably more than 80 or 90% of them, got shut down. I’m not sure how the Iranian representatives at the UN are gonna get home.”

Iranian parliamentary speaker MB Ghalibaf had a pithy tweet in response to Bessant:

Gulf News had details on how the Iranian delegation might get home, as well as information on countries apparently welcoming Iranian flights despite the US sanctions:

Flight-tracking data cited by Bloomberg showed at least six departures from Iran for destinations including Bangkok, Phuket, Shanghai and Kabul after the restrictions took effect.

(Pezeshkian) did not travel to New York aboard a regular scheduled Iranian passenger flight.

The Iranian president flew aboard an Airbus A340 operated by Ashianeh, a little-known Iranian airline that does not operate scheduled passenger services or sell tickets and did not appear to be under US or European Union sanctions when Pezeshkian departed Tehran. It remains unclear whether the aircraft will face any restrictions on refuelling or other services for the delegation’s scheduled return on Saturday.

Flight-tracking information showed the aircraft stopping in Algiers, apparently to refuel, on its journey to New York.

That means Bessent’s question should not be taken literally as evidence that the Iranian delegation is stranded.

Whether the same aircraft will carry Pezeshkian back to Tehran on Saturday has not been publicly confirmed. But its use on the outbound journey illustrates one of the difficulties Washington faces in trying to isolate Iran’s aviation sector completely.

Meanwhile US Senator John Kennedy (R-LA) burnished his country’s reputation for classy and intelligent dialogue with this gem to Fox News:

I think that the people running Iran are reptiles. And they’re part of a colony of reptiles. China, North Korea, Russia and, as I said, Iran. The chief reptile, the quarterback, is President Xi in China. You can’t trust any of them. All four of them are the same. It’s like the same hooker in different dresses. They all lie like time share salesmen. You can’t trust them. I wouldn’t turn my back on any of ’em, even if I thought and knew they were two days dead.

Kennedy also told Iowans that, “I believe that that war will be concluded within the next six months.”

Interestingly, US aircraft carriers appear to be staying even further away from Iran than usual.

Meanwhile the US Senate once again voted down a resolution calling for an end to the Iran War 49-50 with four GOP defectors (Tillis -NC, Collins- ME, Murkowski- AK, Paul- KY) and one Democrat (Fetterman – PA) voting “no.”

That’s enough blather, let’s get to some kino.

Ansar Allah Drives the Action

The Saudis claim to have shot down half a dozen ballistic missiles fired their way by Ansar Allah.

Clearly they’re not working with the Ukrainians or they’d be claiming much bigger numbers.

Ansar Allah issued an official statement:

In the context of the aggression launched by the Saudi enemy against our country, and with the escalation of rocket attacks on the border areas in the provinces of Saada and Hajjah using more than 200 rockets launched from Jizan, and with the Yemeni Armed Forces observing large-scale mobilizations by the Saudi enemy aimed at escalating operations along the border regions,
The Yemeni Armed Forces, with the aid of Allah Almighty, carried out a preemptive, qualitative, and extensive military operation using dozens of ballistic missiles and drones. The operation targeted operations rooms, command and control centers, weapons depots, and other critical sites belonging to the Saudi enemy’s mobilizations in the Al-Tuwal area of Jizan, affiliated with what is known as the 6th Emergency Brigade.
Meanwhile, rocket launch sites and platforms in the Al-Dughayrir camp in the Jizan region were targeted.
As well as a number of Saudi enemy camps in the Jizan region.
The strikes were precise and direct, by the grace of Allah.
The results were as follows:
The killing and wounding of hundreds from the Saudi enemy’s mobilizations, including Yemenis and Sudanese, along with dozens of Saudi enemy personnel and officers.
The destruction and incineration of several Saudi enemy weapons depots.
Our armed forces continue to carry out their duties with full strength and resolve, responding to sources of threat, retaliating against any aggression or attack, and monitoring and targeting all hostile movements wherever they may be, by the permission of Allah Almighty.
We persist in imposing the equation of siege with siege, escalation with escalation, and targeting the mobilizations of the Saudi enemy until the aggression ceases and the siege on our dear country is lifted.

Allah is Sufficient for us, and He is the Best Disposer of affairs, the Best Protector and the Best Helper.
Long live Yemen, free, dignified, and independent,
And victory belongs to Yemen and to all the free people of the nation.

Some commentary on the Yemeni strikes on Saudi troop concentrations (seriously are no military professionals finding time to watch Ukraine War videos — don’t concentrate forces, they’re drone and missile bait!)

Brett Erickson of Obsidian Risk Advisors commented:

Moments ago, Ansar Allah (Houthis) released an official statement that they have struck critical Saudi command and control centers and weapons depots in the Al-Tuwal region of Jazan.

Most critically, Ansar Allah is stating that their strikes in Jazan resulted in the, “deaths and injuries of HUNDREDS from the Saudi, Yemeni, and Sudanese opposition, as well as dozens of officers”.

It is worth noting that while the Yemen/Saudi War is RIFE with misinformation, the statements that come directly from the Yemeni Armed Forces have historically proven to be very accurate.

This statement and claim is directly compatible with Saudi early warning alerts being issued in the Jazan region in recent days, as well as rumored claims of this exact strike.

This is yet ANOTHER significant embarrassment for Mohammed bin Salman and Saudi Arabia that in recent weeks has seen the destruction of multiple pumping stations at the East-West Pipeline, successful Ansar Allah strikes in the Saudi capital of Riyadh at the King Khalid International Airport, rampant destruction of various energy sites, loss of control over the Bab al-Mandeb, and now a significant military loss at Jazan.

It’s very difficult to parse who’s tweeting reals and who’s tweeting family blogging, but the following are reports that seem consistent with what’s being reported in the MSM and also include cool videos, maps and interactive graphics.

Oh and France is apparently going to join the UK (who’s supplying refueling tankers to the Saudi bombing campaign) in attempting to aid MSB’s regime. This ought to be a hoot. The French Foreign Legion is fresh off getting their asses run out of West Africa.

There are also two longer pieces worth a look.

One on how the Saudis have been courting Salafists (Muslim fundamentalists) in Yemen:

The expulsion of the First Military Region’s forces from Hadhramaut early this year left a wide security and political vacuum across eastern Yemen. With the country’s traditional republican parties absent from the field, Saudi Arabia turned to a key local player with the organization and manpower to help fill the void: the Salafist current.

What began as absorption into military and security structures has since extended into politics and government. In the space of only months, a religious movement that long preached withdrawal from partisan life has become an influential bloc inside the political and institutional spheres—at both the military and executive levels.

The shift has also broken the Southern Transitional Council’s (STC) monopoly on the Southern cause. While founding STC chief Aidarous Al-Zubaidi carried that mantle alone for years, Salafist leader Abdulrahman Al-Muharrami has increasingly emerged as a rival—and guarantor of balancing Saudi influence in Yemen against that of the United Arab Emirates (UAE). This dynamic particularly stands out given the close Emirati affiliations of the entities Muharrami has been involved with.

This piece from Egypt gives the perspective from a country that almost, but didn’t join the Mecca Accords:

What form Egypt’s role may take remains undisclosed, but the direction is no longer fully opaque. Retired general Samir Farag, a commentator with close ties to official circles, noted on Egyptian television that Sisi and his Saudi guest reached explicit agreements withheld from the public pending coordination with other regional partners; that Saudi Arabia is under a genuine tactical squeeze; and, that Riyadh turned to Cairo “with full awareness that Egypt would step up.” Farag pointed directly to Sisi’s 2015 proposal for a unified Arab military force as validated by the current moment—external powers prioritizing their own distance, he argued, makes joint Arab coordination unavoidable. That is one path; Egypt joining the Mecca framework outright, adding the one regional military with genuine Red Sea reach, is another; a narrower bilateral trade of Egyptian capability for economic assistance is a third. None is confirmed, and the three are not mutually exclusive.

A fourth path is no longer speculative. In the days before MbS’s visit to Cairo, US Central Command (CENTCOM) organized a secret meeting in Germany bringing together the military chiefs of Bahrain, Egypt, Israel, Jordan, Kuwait, Qatar, Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates (UAE)—the first such gathering since the war with Iran began in February. US media claim that out of the meeting grew active discussions between Israel and Saudi Arabia, with CENTCOM’s assistance, on Israeli intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance (ISR) support for Riyadh’s operations against the Houthis, modeled on similar assistance that Israel provides to the UAE. That the channel exists and is being used appears accurate; what it would cost the Kingdom politically is less clear. Security cooperation on terms that echo Abu Dhabi’s own path would still read, at home and across the region, as Riyadh following the Emirati script rather than writing its own—a genuinely difficult thing for a crown prince who has positioned his country as the Gulf’s senior power, not its second mover.

​A fifth path is the most remote: direct Saudi-UAE arrangement over Yemen itself. Abu Dhabi and Riyadh have pulled in different directions there for years: a UN Panel of Experts has reported and Yemeni officials have alleged the Emirati build-up of the Southern Transitional Council at the expense of the Saudi-backed government; the UAE’s alleged targeting of Al-Islah commanders that Riyadh has relied on; and the UAE’s foothold in places like Socotra, all of which are moves that Saudi Arabia has seen as undercutting its authority. None of this makes a fresh bargain likely—the mistrust runs deep—but the two sat in the same room at the CENTCOM meeting regardless, and it would cost Riyadh the least in prestige if the two ever aligned.

This last is totally speculative and from a source I don’t know, but is interesting and has the ring of truth — even if it’s wrong on the specifics, there has to be massive intrigue going on in the Riyadh Ritz Carlton:

And just because I can’t help myself here are a few links on the major escalations going on over on the African side of the Red Sea, much of which I have to speculate is being driven with an eye toward pressuring Ansar Allah from the west:
