The Ladysmith-born rapper, whose real name is Bongumenzi Gumede, marked the achievement with a humble message on social media. Tagging Spotify Africa, he wrote, “First M on @spotifyafrica 🙏🏼 Sbonga uMdali. Sbonga iHiphop.💙🙏🏼,” expressing gratitude to God and the hip-hop culture that has shaped his journey.
Released on 6 September 2024, Took Me For A Nai steadily gained traction and has become Blue Pappi‘s biggest solo record to date. The song received another boost in January 2025 when he released a remix featuring Blxckie and Ma-E, introducing the track to an even wider audience. Nearly two years after its release, it has now become the rapper’s first song to surpass the one million stream mark on the platform.
