The awards have unveiled the nominees for the highly anticipated Hip Hop Artist of the Year category. The lineup showcases a dynamic mix of established stars and exciting new voices who continue to elevate African hip hop through creativity, authenticity, and undeniable talent.
The 2025 nominees are:

Voting is officially open.
Supporters in South Africa, Eswatini and Lesotho can vote via SMS by texting “Hiphop” followed by their chosen nominee’s name to 33329. SMS votes cost R1.50 each, with unlimited entries allowed. Free SMS bundles do not apply.
International fans can cast their votes online through the official Basadi In Music Awards voting platform. Online votes cost R1.50 per vote, with a minimum bundle purchase of ten votes. Terms and conditions apply.
Voting closes on 18 July at 23:59 CAT.
