AFL Round 13 live updates: North Melbourne vs Fremantle, Gold Coast vs Brisbane, West Coast vs Port Adelaide — blog, scores, stats

The Kangaroos head west to face the Dockers in Bunbury before the Suns try to put another dent in the Lions’ flag hopes in the Q-Clash.

Fremantle are looking to add to a club-record winning streak of 11 games as they take on North at Docklands.

Later, the spotlight will be on back-to-back premiers Brisbane, as they head down the highway to meet the Suns at Carrara.

Tonight the focus switches to Perth, where West Coast will play Port Adelaide.

Follow all the action in our live blog.

AFL Saturday Scoreboard

QT stats

  • Clearances: 10-8 North Melb
  • Centre clearances: 4-3 North Melb
  • Contested possessions: 30-24 Frem
  • Uncontested possessions: 66-66
  • Marks inside 50: 5-1 Frem

I wouldn’t have expected those numbers given what we’ve seen, but the key number is the marks inside 50.

The Dockers have too many options inside the arc right now – if that doesn’t change, this could be a long day for North.

QT: Fremantle 4.3 (27) leads North Melbourne 2.2 (14)

The siren sounds, and the Dockers lead by a tick over two goals.

They were put under pressure late in the quarter, but a couple of fumbles from North and composure from Freo’s back six saw things off.

Fremantle is definitely playing better right now, and it’s a good thing that Charlie Comben has come back on after passing his HIA.

But the mix of targets that the Dockers have up forward is causing all sorts of bother for the Kangaroos.

They need to find a way of stopping Josh Treacy in particular – we’ll see how they go in the second term shortly.

Freo making North pay for errors

This is frustrating if you’re a Kangaroos fan.

Luke Parker was taking a kickout, and he went short, only for Murphy Reid to step around a defender and take the mark close in. He went back and kicked the goal, and the lead is out to 14 points in time on.

Treacy responds for the Dockers

It’s been a funny old start, with the Dockers controlling a lot of the game but finding themselves level with North.

But the last passage of play showed why the Kangaroos have concerns down back.

Patrick Voss (whose guernsey is already ripped and needs a replace) had a free on the wing. He thumped it long inside 50, and Josh Treacy was like the immovable object, going in front to take a mark at the second attempt.

He kicked the goal to put Freo in front again – Charlie Comben is off the ground having a HIA. If he can’t come back, then that will be a big blow to North.

Kangaroos hit the front

This is a big turnaround, as North hit the front!

A kick from the boundary in the right forward pocket to the hotspot didn’t have a chance for a mark, with Mason Cox a little overexuberant with his fair shoulder to Nick Larkey.

The Kangaroos spearhead converted from the goal square, and North leads by a point.

Kangaroos take advantage of Dockers error, hit back with a goal

Well that was a 60-90 seconds. The Dockers were dominating, and Josh Treacy had a set shot from the right side of 50, only to spray it wildly right for out on the full.

The Kangaroos took advantage, and Luke Davies-Uniacke kicked from 50, it came off hands, and Cooper Trembath was there for a lovely soccer finish.

North have their first major.

Sat 6 Jun 2026 at 2:24pm

Fremantle in again from Sam Switkowski

Oh dear. Alastair Clarkson would NOT be liking this.

Another turnover, another goal. The Kangas lost the ball on the wing, and Sam Switkowski was just too quick, as he outpaced the defence to nail the kick on the run from 30 or so out.

Dockers by 11, early doors.

Sat 6 Jun 2026 at 2:22pm

Dockers take the lead with goal from Frederick

That was better from Freo!

They raised the pressure and forced an error with a great tackle by Hayden Young on Luke Davies-Uniacke.

The turnover led to a sweep through the corridor before a mark to Michael Frederick, who converted to take the opening goal for the Dockers.

Sat 6 Jun 2026 at 2:19pm

Cam Zurhaar kicks the opening point for North

It’s been a cagey start in Bunbury, with both sides having chances but not being able to convert.

Cam Zurhaar has kicked the opening point from the left forward pocket after a couple of minutes.

We are underway in Bunbury!

It is a beautiful day at Hands Oval in Bunbury, not sure what the wind’s doing but we’re about to find out.

The big question is whether the Kangaroos can cause an upset against Fremantle, or will the Dockers make it 12 wins in a row?

Recent results between North Melbourne and Fremantle

  • R15, 2025: Fremantle by 6 (Perth Stadium)
  • R3, 2024: Fremantle by 26 (Docklands)
  • R2, 2023: North Melbourne by 1 (Perth Stadium)
  • R8, 2022: Fremantle by 78 (Perth Stadium)
  • R6, 2021: Fremantle by 51 (Perth Stadium)
  • R17, 2020: Fremantle by 64 (Carrara)

Even setting aside the Kangaroos selling this “home game” to the Dockers to play in regional WA, this has not been a favourable matchup for North in recent times.

The Dockers have won five of the last six encounters, and eight of the last 10.

On the plus side, two of the last three matches between the two have been settled by a kick or less. Another of those would be handy this afternoon.

Teams are in for Kangaroos vs Dockers

(AFL.com.au)

There are no late changes for either side.

The one named change for North Melbourne is a big one. Finn O’Sullivan was concussed at training, and he will miss both this week’s game in Bunbury and North’s round 14 match against West Coast at Perth Stadium.

O’Sullivan, who would have probably been set for a tagging job on the likes of Andrew Brayshaw or other key Dockers players, is replaced by Zac Fisher.

Fremantle picked up a couple of injuries in last week’s win over Brisbane at the Gabba. Defender Brennan Cox (knee) is out for this week, as is Matthew Johnson (hamstring). Christopher Scerri is omitted.

Coming in are Hayden Young and Jaeger O’Meara, along with Oscar McDonald down back.

Welcome to Saturday footy

Hello, good afternoon and welcome to the ABC’s continuing live online coverage of round 13 of the AFL.

We’re in the middle of the bye rounds, so we have three games for Saturday footy.

We’ll kick things off in regional Western Australia, with North Melbourne playing a “home game” against Fremantle in Bunbury.

Next up, we will have the Q-Clash, as the Suns and Lions go at it at Carrara, looking for bragging rights and to take advantage of the results so far this round.

Finally, we will switch back to the west, where the Eagles will host Port Adelaide at Perth Stadium.

My name is Andrew McGarry, and I am delighted to be bringing you the first part of today’s proceedings, before I hand over to my friend and colleague Dean Bilton.

Let’s jump in!
