Usimamane and Blxckie, the melodic firebrands from opposite corners of the coastal city’s scene, are now following each other on Instagram, signalling that the much-publicised tension between them has been laid to rest.
The feud reached its peak earlier this year when Usimamane dropped a fiery diss track titled “Ransom”, directly aiming shots at Blxckie and his broader camp, most notably K1llbrady, along with Jay Katana and LaCabra. The track was widely seen as a bold escalation, packed with sharp bars that had fans dissecting every line and picking sides across timelines.
Blxckie, the versatile Sydenham Heights wordsmith known as Somnyama, largely sidestepped direct engagement throughout much of the drama, while K1llbrady stepped in with responses like “We Dem Boyz” and “No Label”, adding fuel to the fire in defence of the camp. Usimamane’s earlier “Hey Twin” also stirred the pot, but “Ransom” marked a major chapter in the back and forth.
For weeks, the streets of South African hip-hop buzzed with diss tracks, podcast jabs, indirect shots, and heated debates. Usimamane, the breakout star from Umlazi whose 2024 smash “Cheque” went triple platinum, had been vocal about feeling slighted. Yet, in true 2026 fashion, the resolution came not with another round of freestyles but with a simple, silent social media move: a mutual Instagram follow.
This digital white flag suggests mutual respect has ultimately won out over ego. Usimamane, Omuhleumnguni Simamane, born 2003, continues carving his lane with raw honesty and emotional depth, while Blxckie, Sihle Sithole, already a veteran blending rap, R&B, and production prowess, has long bridged underground roots with mainstream appeal.
Whether this leads to a joint track, a shared stage, or simply peaceful coexistence in Durban’s thriving rap scene remains to be seen. But one thing is clear: South African hip-hop is healing, one follower at a time.
