UK Government stops Kanye West

It has now been confirmed that the UK government has stopped Kanye West from entering the country ahead of the Wireless Festival 2026.

The UK government has denied entry to Kanye West amid backlash surrounding his scheduled headline performance at this year’s Wireless Festival in London.

According to the Home Office, the rapper applied for entry through an Electronic Travel Authorisation (ETA), but officials rejected the request, stating that his presence would not serve the public good.

West has faced widespread criticism in recent years over a series of antisemitic, racist, and pro-Nazi remarks.

Festival organisers have yet to issue an official response, though inquiries have been made for comment. Meanwhile, the Campaign Against Antisemitism supported the government’s move, saying it demonstrated a firm stance against antisemitism. The group also criticised the festival for continuing to support West’s booking, urging sponsors to distance themselves.

Earlier on Tuesday, West had expressed a willingness to engage with members of the Jewish community in the UK, saying he had been following the debate around his appearance. He acknowledged that words alone would not be enough and said he hoped to demonstrate change through his actions.

The Board of Deputies of British Jews responded by saying it would consider meeting him, but only if he withdrew from the festival lineup. Its president, Phil Rosenberg, said genuine remorse and meaningful change would need to be shown before any such platform would be appropriate.
